The Junction Meadow to Forks of Kern section of Kern River in California is 37 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V+ section of whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have
you coming back for more. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling
rivers. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The river winds through the Southern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
