This section of Kern River in California is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. There are so many stretches     to paddle in this river system, the Lake Isabella to Sandy Flat stretch is just one of many. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The starting location is a short drive from Bakersfield, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. When you're paddling down a Southern Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: Hot Spring Valley is a delightful location to go to nearby. Summertime highs at Kern River mostly tend to be in the 80's, and the nighttime is a tad chillier of   course, mostly in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Kern River.
