If you're coming from Bakersfield it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Kern County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these
hotels fill up quick. Whitewater paddling here in the Southern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Sandy Flat to Democrat Hot Springs stretch is just one of them. This section of Kern River in California is 11.5 miles
long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots.

in the Southern Sierra Nevada, too great to be true. It is very dry here at Kern River frequently; all through January this area sees the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. Beaver Canyon is in close proximity to Kern River and is undeniably a tremendous
site to take a look at, and a short spree to Delonegha Hot Springs is always worthwhile. High temperatures at Kern River during the warm days of summer are in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Kern River.
