The Middle South Fork confluence to Garnet Dike Campground section of Kings River in California is 10 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. There
aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting some good exercise
and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. The wonderful California scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Kings River have people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Kings River gets a typical amount of yearly rain; January is the month that gets the most rain; the driest of the months is July. During the
summer at Kings River highs are regularly in the 90's while night lows are mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Kings River. The trees of Cabin Creek Grove are a perfect source of shade on hot
summer days, and a short visit to Garlic Falls is always worthwhile. These mountains rock, just explore all the enjoyable stuff to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. If you're looking for a beach right next door to Kings River, we recommend Sandy Cove Beach.
