CLASS III-IV 9.5 miles
This is a great place to paddle, specially in late spring. It slows down in the summer and gets very rocky but it's a fun run even then. Says Bob
The Garnet Dike Campground to Kirch Flat Campground stretch of Kings River in Fresno County is 9.5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit
away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch is mid length,
good for a one day paddling trip. There's camping available near Kings River. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The natural beauty of Fresno County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.
