Fresno
county,
Pine Flat Dam to Centerville section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II 12 miles
This stretch of Kings River is 12 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Fresno, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system is full of great
paddling sections, the Pine Flat Dam to Centerville section is just one of them. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your sleeping bag. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. Getting some good exercise and spending
some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The beautiful scenery of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere.
