If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The starting point is not too far from Fresno, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. is full of great paddling stretches, the Pine Flat Dam to Centerville stretch is just one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the
night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. When you're paddling down a Central Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Pine Flat Dam to Centerville section of Kings River in Fresno County is 12 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.

days of summer highs here at Kings River reach the 90's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's, and nighttime lows throughout the winter for Kings River tend to be in the 30's.
