The Happy Camp to Coon Creek section of Klamath River in Siskiyou County is 18 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(IV) section. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The wonderful Siskiyou County scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. When you're paddling down a Klamath Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number
of good rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You can enjoy this section
more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: So many amusing things to do here in the Klamath Mountains, too great to be true. Klamath River is a wet location that gets a lot of precipitation; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain while July is the month
with the least amount of precipitation. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Klamath River reach the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Klamath River.
