This stretch of Klamath River in Siskiyou County is 18 miles long and has been rated as a class III+(IV) section by American Whitewater. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The nature scenery of California and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people
coming from far and near. Whitewater paddling here in the Klamath Mountains is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to
get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Happy Camp to Coon Creek stretch is just one of many. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
