The Happy Camp to Coon Creek section of Klamath River in California is 18 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(IV) section. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Happy Camp to Coon Creek section is just one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. When     you're paddling down a Klamath Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Klamath River generally tend to be in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's. Through the winter the highs are frequently in the 40's, and after the sun   is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Klamath River drop into the 30's. Klamath River gets a great deal of water; December is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is July. And that's not all you can do here in the Klamath Mountains. If you're here, you might as well stop by Wingate Bar, and Ferry Point is an interesting thing to observe if you're here.
