The Orleans to Weitchpec section of Klamath River in California is 16 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Orleans to Weitchpec stretch is just one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come
because it is a very popular destination. There's camping available near Klamath River. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. When you're paddling down a Coast Ranges river like this one you always
get great scenery along the way too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. you might as well visit Red Cap Gulch. At Klamath River through the summer highs are in the 90's with overnight lows in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are generally in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Klamath River.
