This section of Klamath River in Humboldt County is 16 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The scenic beauty of Humboldt County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either
way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The Orleans to Weitchpec section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep
in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

of the long summer days here at Klamath River, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 90's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Klamath River.
