This section of Klamath River in California is 36 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Humboldt County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Weitchpec to Klamath Glen section is just one of them. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Crescent City North, please print
out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Klamath River is a reasonably wet place frequently with
a good deal of rainfall; all through December this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is July. The warmest time of the year at Klamath River arrives with high temperatures in the 60's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Klamath River.
