If you're coming from Truckee-Grass Valley it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful California scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Lavezzola Creek will make you feel great. There are no other stretches to paddle along Lavezzola Creek than the 2nd Divide Bridge to Downieville stretch. Creek in California is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV(V) section of whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places.
You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy.
