The natural beauty of California and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The Sycamore Road to Sycamore Creek stretch of Little Dry Creek in Fresno County is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. When you're paddling down a Central Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along
the way too. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. The put-in location is a short drive from Fresno, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby,
you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The Sycamore Road to Sycamore Creek section is the only paddling section along Little Dry Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
Briefly about the general area: Little Dry Creek is mostly a rather dehydrated place; the wettest month of the year is typically
January, that's the one that rains the most while July is frequently the driest month. There is a fine hiking trail close to Little Dry Creek called the Bobs Flat Trail, and nearby you come across the Deep Creek Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. Life's too short to
enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. During the days of summer at Little Dry Creek temperatures are commonly in the 90's with night lows in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Little Dry Creek.
