California whitewater - Little Dry Creek, Central Sierra Nevada, Fresno County Fresno county, Sycamore Road to Sycamore Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV-V     4 miles   The Sycamore Road to Sycamore Creek stretch of Little Dry Creek in Fresno County is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of California and the water flowing gracefully down Little Dry Creek make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the     great campgrounds nearby. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is the only paddling section along Little Dry Creek. If you're coming from Fresno it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: There is a great hiking trail in close proximity to Little Dry Creek called the Bobs Flat Trail; going for a hike on the Deep Creek Trail   is always a wonderful adventure. Summertime highs at Little Dry Creek usually tend to be in the 90's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. Throughout the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 50's; nighttime lows in the 30's for Little Dry Creek. Little Dry Creek is usually a relatively dry spot; the month with most of the rain is January, and July is when it's the driest. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada.
