This stretch of Little Sur River in Monterey County is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Salinas, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The campgrounds here at Little Sur River are pretty good. Great exercise and a chance to spend some     time outdoors are great reasons to come. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There are no other sections to paddle along Little Sur River than the Pico Blanco B South Carolina to Highway 1 section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. When you're paddling down a Santa Lucia Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: At Little Sur River all through the summer months highs are in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's.   Daytime highs through the winter are in the 60's while Little Sur River overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 30's.
