The wonderful Monterey County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The river winds through the Santa Lucia Range and you get great scenery. Not too many hotels     nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Little Sur River are pretty good. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This is the only paddling section along Little Sur River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. This stretch of Little Sur River is 7 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: During the summer at Little Sur River temperatures are mostly in the 70's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The   winter brings highs down to the 60's; night lows during the wintertime for Little Sur River tend to be in the 30's. From a rainfall point of view Little Sur River is a rather normal location; during the month of January you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is August.
