CLASS III 5.8 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. This stretch of Mad River is 5.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The North and South
Fork confluence to Barry Creek Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non
stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The wonderful Trinity County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. There's camping available near Mad River.
