The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There's camping available near Mill Creek. The Squaw Valley to Wonder Valley Guest Ranch section of Mill Creek is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. You might have to settle for a hotel     a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The beautiful Central Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. The natural beauty of California and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm months at Mill Creek highs are commonly in the 90's. All through the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's. During   the winter highs are in the 50's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Mill Creek fall into the 30's. Mill Creek is pretty waterless typically; the month with most of the rain is January; July is the month with the least moisture.
