If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The scenic beauty of Amador/ Calaveras County and the cool fresh water beats anything. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. This stretch of Mokelumne
River in Amador/ Calaveras County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
