And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. This stretch of Mokelumne     River in Amador/ Calaveras County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. For the duration of the days of summer at Mokelumne River highs are usually in the 90's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's   overnight here at Mokelumne River.
