  This stretch of Mokelumne River - North Fork in California is 24.9 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Alpine/ Amador/ Calaveras County and the water flowing gracefully down Mokelumne River - North Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. If you're a camper
    you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a short drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping
bag. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.
