The scenic beauty of Fresno County and the water flowing gracefully down Mono Creek attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch of Mono Creek in Fresno County is 1.5 miles long and is a class IV(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
The Vermillion Dam to Mono Diversion section is the only paddling section along Mono Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp
at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Not much rain falls here at Mono Creek; the month with most of the rain is January, and the driest of the months is June. Summertime at Mono Creek comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun
is down it falls down to the 40's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Mono Creek temperatures drop to the 20's.
