county,
Vermillion Dam to Mono Diversion section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV(V) 1.5 miles
The beautiful scenery of Fresno County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Vermillion Dam to Mono Diversion stretch of Mono Creek in California is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive
a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. Mono Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections,
the Vermillion Dam to Mono Diversion section is the only one. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. The campgrounds here at Mono Creek are pretty good. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: Mono Creek is pretty dried out ordinarily; January is when you get the most rain here while June is the month with
