The nature scenery of Shasta County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Pit River.
