The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The campgrounds here at Pit River are pretty good. The beautiful     scenery of Shasta County and the water flowing gracefully down Pit River will make you feel great. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Fall River Mills Bridge to Route 299 Bridge stretch is just one of them. When you're paddling down a Southern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other places.
