The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The Lake Britton to Pit 3 Powerhouse section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater     rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. The beautiful Southern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The natural beauty of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Briefly about the general area: Pit River is a quite wet place generally with a lot of rain; the wettest month of the year is mostly January, that's the one that rains the most while July is generally the driest month. High temperatures at Pit River all through the days of summer are in the 80's, and during the   night it cools down to the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Pit River fall into the 20's.
