Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The wonderful California scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Whitewater paddling here in the Southern Cascade Range is a great experience. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you     can camp. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good spots for that around here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Lake Britton to Pit 3 Powerhouse stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Pit River mostly tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 40's; after the   sun is down during the winter temperatures at Pit River dip into the 20's. Pit River is a pretty wet place mostly with a large amount of precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
