This stretch of Pit River in Lassen County is 24 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The beautiful scenery of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing     to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The beauty of the Southern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Nubieber to Pittville section is one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: At Pit River all through the months of summer highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is a tad cooler of course, usually in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Pit River.
