The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful scenery of Mendocino County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you hurry you can     run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Fish Rock Road to Mountain View Road section is one of them. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're coming from Ukiah it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Coast Ranges scenery is wonderful. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that.
