The US 101 to Big Bend stretch of Rattlesnake Creek is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Mendocino County and the water flowing gracefully down Rattlesnake Creek make the trip here worthwhile. When you're paddling down a Coast Ranges river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a
lot of people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. There
are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. This is the only paddling section along Rattlesnake Creek. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
