If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. If you're coming from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna it's not a long drive at all
to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the
night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
