Humboldt
county,
Lacks Creek to Orick section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 25 miles
The put-in is not too far from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Lacks Creek to Orick section of Redwood Creek in California is 25 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. If you have the
time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater
rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Lacks Creek to Orick section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
