This stretch of Redwood Creek in Humboldt County is 25 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California are harder than the national norm, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. If you're coming from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting your
paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,
either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The natural beauty of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too.

while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The Bald Hills is a major trait of the area around Redwood Creek. High temperatures at Redwood Creek throughout the warm days of summer are in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 50's; night lows at Redwood Creek during the wintertime ordinarily dip into the 30's.
