The wonderful Mendocino/ Sonoma County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have     a lot of people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful Coast Ranges scenery is an added bonus. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: Russian River sees pretty high levels of rain; January is the month that gets the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At Russian River through the long summer days highs   are in the 90's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are generally in the 50's while Russian River overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 30's.
