The natural beauty of Mendocino County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting point is not too far from Ukiah, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. from far and near. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. There are plenty of hotels
| here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Falls to Lake Mendocino section is one of them. This section of Russian River - East Fork in Mendocino County is 2.6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II+(III) section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
