Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This section of Sacramento River is 7.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Siskiyou/ Shasta County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river
system, the Box Canyon Dam to Dunsmuir stretch is just one of many.

If you're here, you might as well check out Box Canyon, and Ney Springs is an inspiring place to check out during your stay. Coming to this river is always a good idea.
