This stretch of Sacramento River in California is 7.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The scenic beauty of Siskiyou/ Shasta County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. No need to look hard for
hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. On this section you do
get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: This is such a wonderful river. Hiking along the Castle Lake Trail is wonderful fun. Ney Springs is a tremendous local attraction, and Box Canyon is a great place to spend some time. Faery Falls is a pretty place to take a look at while you're at Sacramento River, and you can have a good hiking adventure along the Crags Trail. Summertime at Sacramento River arrives with
high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Sacramento River. Sacramento River gets a normal amount of yearly precipitation; the month with most of the rain is January; July meanwhile is the driest month.
