If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Briefly about the general area: There is a great hiking trail in the neighborhood of Sacramento River called the Crags Trail; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Soda Spring. Going for a hike on the Castle Lake Trail is always a great adventure, and   a trip to Soda Springs will fill your spirit with pleasant feelings. For the duration of the summertime at Sacramento River temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 40's; night lows throughout the winter for Sacramento River tend to be in the 20's.
