The Sims Flat Campground to Lake Shasta stretch of Sacramento River is 13 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that     rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Sims Flat Campground to Lake Shasta stretch is just one of them.
