  If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch of Salmon River in California is 19 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming
    from far and near. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Forks of Salmon to Somes Bar stretch is just one of many. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve
in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. The Klamath Mountains scenery is wonderful. The beautiful scenery of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile.

Briefly about the general area:
High temperatures at Salmon River during the months of summer are in the 90's; the night is a little chillier of course, usually in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime
 
are in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Salmon River. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Klamath Mountains.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Salmon River a wet site; during the month of December you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is July. Grant Bluffs is a brilliant place to stop by while in the region, and you could always look at Wilson Gulch.
