If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The natural beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp
stove. The wild scenery of the Klamath Mountains is great. This stretch of Salmon River in California is 19 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here
you'll find a large number of good spots. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Forks of Salmon to Somes Bar section is just one of them. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: Salmon River mostly gets much rain; December is when you get the most rain here, and July is the month with the least moisture. Grant Bluffs is an exciting place to pop by while at Salmon
River, and Wilson Gulch is also a great location to look at. This location, the Klamath Mountains, has so much outdoors entertaining things. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Salmon River with night lows in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Salmon River.
