  The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often more challenging than in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch of Salmon River - North Fork in Siskiyou County is 11 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. The wonderful Siskiyou County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The wild scenery of the Klamath Mountains is great. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter,
    around here you'll find a large number of good places. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Little North Fork to Forks of Salmon section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.

Briefly about the general area:
At Salmon River - North Fork throughout the warm months highs are in the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's while Salmon River - North
 
Fork overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 30's. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Klamath Mountains. Near Salmon River - North Fork you discover Heiney Bar which is a pleasant place to visit, and if you want to explore some interesting stuff, explore Dougherty Bluff.
At this river you will never have a bad time. Do schedule some time to go to China Point next to Salmon River - North Fork if you have a chance, and there's great hiking along the Garden Gulch Trail. Salmon River - North Fork generally gets a good deal of precipitation; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is July.
