The scenic beauty of Monterey County and the water flowing gracefully down San Antonio are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There's camping available near San Antonio. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you     come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that. The Above and down to Mission San Antonio de Padua section is the only paddling section along San Antonio. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The wild scenery of the Santa Lucia Range is great. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the long summer days here at San Antonio, high temperatures usually get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in   the 60's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at San Antonio. San Antonio is regularly a pretty arid spot; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is when it's the driest.
