This section of San Joaquin River in California is 7 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful California scenery and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There's camping available near San Joaquin River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has     a large number of paddling spots. The beauty of the Central Sierra Nevada is a great plus for this river. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Mammoth Pool Dam to Mammoth Pool Powerhouse section is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
