This stretch of San Joaquin River is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Madera, there's a road map further down the page with     more info on that. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The natural beauty of Fresno and Madera County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
