  The beautiful scenery of California and the water flowing gracefully down San Joaquin River - Middle Fork make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of San Joaquin River - Middle Fork is 32.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Devils Postpile Nat'l Monument to Mammoth Pool Reservoir section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby
    campground. Now this is a pretty long section, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this
state than those in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
