Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California are harder than the national norm, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The nature scenery of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from     near and far. The beautiful Central Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here.
