The wonderful California scenery and the water flowing gracefully down San Lorenzo River will make you feel great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that. When you're paddling down a Santa Cruz Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are some     good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Boulder Creek to Felton stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The put-in is not too far from Santa Cruz-Watsonville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at San Lorenzo River generally tend to be in the 70's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's.   For the period of the winter the highs are commonly in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at San Lorenzo River. San Lorenzo River is a wet place that gets lots of rainfall; most of the rain falls through January, and July is when it's the driest. All year is a great time in the Santa Cruz Mountains if you go for the outdoors. Hubbard Gulch is next to San Lorenzo River and is without doubt a splendid location to explore; close by you stumble on the Rincon Fire Road Trail which is a great hiking trail.
