The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The Canyon Entrance Close to Meamber Creek to Klamath Confluence stretch of Scott River in California is 22 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-V section. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The beautiful scenery of California and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here
and paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The wild scenery of the Klamath Mountains is great. Scott River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Canyon Entrance Close to Meamber Creek to
Klamath Confluence section is the only one. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. There's camping available near Scott River. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 90's to Scott River, and the night is slightly chillier of course, usually in the 50's. During the winter this place gets
highs in the 40's; night lows in the 30's for Scott River. Nearby Swanson Gulch is a great location to go if you're at Scott River. Scott River generally gets a good deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is December while July is generally the driest month.
