  The wonderful Siskiyou County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Highway 263 bridge to Klamath River section of Shasta River in Siskiyou County is 6.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III
    section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. The put-in location is a short drive from Medford, please print out a copy of the road map further down the
page so you wonít get lost. The beautiful Siskiyou Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Highway 263 bridge to Klamath River section is one of them. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. No shortage of good hotels, but if you donít have reservations you might  
end up sleeping in your car. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Shasta River you come across the Bear Creek Trail which is a great hiking trail, and lots of people from Yreka come here. So many exciting things to do in the Siskiyou Mountains, not sufficient time. Put some time aside to spend at Iron Trough Spring since you're here at Shasta River. Shasta River is right next door to Dry Gulch which is unquestionably worth visiting. A spree to Silvas Spring will fill your spirit with delightful feelings, and going for a hike on the Clear Creek Trail is always a nice adventure.
