The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch of Smith River - Middle Fork is 22 miles long and is a class II-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here
you'll find a large number of good rivers. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The put-in location

There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the 6 Miles Above Patrick Creek to South Fork Road stretch is one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river.
