The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The scenic beauty of Del Norte County and the playfulness of the water have people coming     here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. The Low Divide Road to Gasquet section of Smith River - North Fork in Del Norte County is 13 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. The Low Divide Road to Gasquet stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Smith River - North Fork is near Peridotite Canyon which is beyond doubt   worth stopping at, and if you're here you can take a hike along the French Hill Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Coast Ranges. On a splendid day at Smith River - North Fork you can take a hike along the Elk Camp Ridge Trail. Throughout the months of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 60's at Smith River - North Fork. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 50's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Smith River - North Fork temperatures dip to the 40's. Smith River - North Fork is a reasonably wet place typically with a good deal of precipitation; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain; July meanwhile is the driest month.
