CLASS IV-V     13 miles
  The natural beauty of California and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This section of Stanislaus River - Middle Fork is 13 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
    Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip
if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, as you can see on the road map further down.

Through the warm days of summer at Stanislaus River - Middle Fork highs are usually in the 60's with night lows in the 40's. Through the
 
wintertime highs are typically in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Stanislaus River - Middle Fork. Stanislaus River - Middle Fork sees pretty high levels of precipitation; January is when you get the most snow here while July is ordinarily the driest month.
