  The wonderful Tuolumne County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Stanislaus River - South Fork have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.     River - South Fork is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, as you can see on the road map further down. The wild scenery of the Central Sierra Nevada is
great. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
