Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The scenic beauty of California and the cool fresh water beats anything. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. There are
campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. When you're paddling down a Central Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Trimmer
Springs Road to Kings River section of Sycamore Creek in California is 2 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Sycamore Creek is pretty dried up typically; January is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is July. Now, you may imagine that's heaps but there's even more exciting stuff to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Summertime highs
at Sycamore Creek commonly tend to be in the 90's, and the night is rather chillier of course, usually in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Sycamore Creek sink into the 30's. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Bobs Flat Trail, and Sycamore Creek is right by the Deep Creek Trail.
