Mariposa
county,
Super Slide section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 1 miles
The nature scenery of California and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The Super Slide section of Tenaya Creek in Mariposa County is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. When you're paddling down a Central Sierra Nevada river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Tenaya Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Super Slide stretch is the only one. The nearby
hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections
here are not safe for beginners. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This is a very short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
Briefly about the general area: Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Central Sierra Nevada. Go for a hike on the Clouds Rest Trail. For the duration of the summertime, highs regularly are in the 80's at Tenaya Creek. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's.

adventure. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Tenaya Creek; January is when you get the most rain here, and July is when it's the driest.
