The Gauge on Highway 101 to South Fork Eel section of Tenmile Creek is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. The wonderful Mendocino County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Tenmile Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't     forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There are no other stretches to paddle along Tenmile Creek than the Gauge on Highway 101 to South Fork Eel stretch. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Coast Ranges scenery is an added bonus. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: A good deal of precipitation falls at Tenmile Creek;   the month with most of the rain is January, and the driest of the months is July. The warmest time of the year at Tenmile Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's.
