This section of Tomki Creek is 9.3 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The natural beauty of Mendocino County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater     rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. There's camping available near Tomki Creek. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Hearst Road to Eel River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Tomki Creek. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The Coast Ranges scenery is wonderful. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: The high level of rainfall makes Tomki Creek a pretty wet location; January is the month that gets the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Tomki Creek.   Summer overnight lows dip down to the 50's.
