The beautiful scenery of Trinity County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The Cedar Flat to Hawkins Bar stretch
of Trinity River in California is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camping stuff.
There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater paddling here in the Coast Ranges is a great experience. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.
