The scenic beauty of Trinity/ Humboldt County and the water flowing gracefully down Trinity River make the trip here worthwhile. The Hawkins Bar to Weitchpec stretch of Trinity River in Trinity/ Humboldt County is 39 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the
sections here are not easy. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Hawkins Bar to Weitchpec section is just one of them. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, perfect
for a real wilderness adventure. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. When you're paddling down a Coast Ranges river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

rain, and July is when it's the driest. Do schedule some time to stop by Jones Point near Trinity River if you have a chance. High temperatures at Trinity River through the days of summer are in the 90's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Trinity River.
