If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Coast Ranges scenery is wonderful. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Hawkins Bar to Weitchpec stretch is just one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem     but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch of Trinity River in California is 39 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Briefly about the general area: The high level of rainfall makes Trinity River a pretty wet place; most of the rain falls through December while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Jones Point   is not far from Trinity River at all. Summertime highs at Trinity River frequently tend to be in the 90's with overnight lows in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Trinity River sink into the 30's.
