The natural beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The Lewiston to Junction City stretch of Trinity River in Trinity County is 30.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it
is a very popular destination. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The beautiful Klamath Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting
or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. The Lewiston to Junction City section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.
Briefly about the general area: But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Klamath Mountains. For the duration of the long summer days at Trinity River temperatures are commonly in the 90's while overnight lows are typically
in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Trinity River. Trinity River is a good spot of common rain; December is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is July. Lance Gulch is in close proximity to Trinity River and is absolutely a great site to check out, and don't leave Trinity River without first paying a visit to Shasta Spring.
