  The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The starting location is a short drive from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots.     County is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are a few
other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The nature scenery of Tuolumne County and the water flowing gracefully down Tuolumne River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Sierra Nevada is a great experience.

stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. Tuolumne River gets lots of water; January is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is July.
If you want to have a look at some exciting stuff, have a look at Hunter Bend; going for a hike on the Pilot Ridge Trail is always a pleasant adventure. High temperatures at Tuolumne River through the long summer days are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Tuolumne River dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights.
